Melbourne Melodia

A trip abroad is my secret wish since the day I got my passport ready ;) The lush beautiful places in the world invite me for an ultimate experience. I won't mind if hubby dear takes me in any part of the world, but that one name which makes my heart melt is 'Melbourne' ;)

Knowing that delightful Melbourne is titled as World's Most Livable City by the Economist Group, publishers of "The Economist" magazine, I could not resist my temptation to explore some enchanting specialties of Melbourne and loved watching exclusive video clips here. Each of these clips have been a visual treat to my eyes... like this cute one..

I thought of writing about some mesmerizing reasons that can justify the award :) You might be thinking that how can it be possible for someone talking high of Melbourne and not mentioning MCG ;) Yes, Yes!! I'm not so forgetful ... the world-famous Melbourne Cricket Ground where cheering up our favourite sportsperson live can be a dream come true for every cricket lover.  The MCG sports stadium located in Yarra Park is the witness of glorious history ever in world of Cricket. At this moment, I'm marking my 2015 calender for the day that will thrill every sporty spirit in me ... Actually I envy those who will be fortunate enough to occupy a seat to watch Final match of World Cup 2015 being hosted at MCG and icing on the cake would be if 'India' creates history by winning at Australian ground ;)

Walking through the lanes of Melbourne city can be no less than a picturesque ordeal for anyone... The city walls contribute largely to its vibrant urban culture with its unique expressions of art displayed throughout the city... I bet one can never bother solitude taking a walk all alone and would just smile n admire the spectacular work all around. Infact if I were there, I know I won't be able to stop myself clicking pics after every few steps ;)

The Royal Exhibition Building brought laurels being listed as the first Australian building to be nominated in World Heritage listing which at present is the rarest surviving monument of city and is continues to be used as a general exhibition hall. The gorgeously lively Carlton garden spells the beauty of the building since ages.

The one thing that I can never miss on my trip to Melbourne is a ride on Free Tourist Tram :P
The cute maroon City Circle Tram is free "hop-in-hop-off" service that operates on a circular route taking you via major tourist attractions in clockwise and anti-clockwise directions. How exciting it would be to travel around the city without worrying of ticket inspectors :P
Ah, I can't end without talking about my most fav topic i.e food... Melbourne restaurants, cafes, bistros and bars are diners' paradise. No surprise if you find Melbourne bustling in the months of Feb-March, when the city hosts its popular Food n Wine Festival. Infact the dates for this year's grand feast have already come up. You can have the foodie fun from Friday 27 February, 2015 to Sunday 15 March 2015 with world's great cuisines...

To add up your knowledge of Melbourne extravaganza, here is your comprehensive guide.

  2. Dear, Team thank you for a lovely contest. I truly enjoyed the post. I love reading and the post was truly attracted me to read .Well with the help of this post i came to know about the beautiful city Melbourne. I realized, Melbourne is friendly and beautiful - with art on street corners, tree-lined boulevards and parklands that extend right into the heart of the city, and a unique tram system that makes it so easy to get around. To know this city, you need to immerse yourself in one of its unique facets.
It has many subcultures, personalities and styles, and it is these layers and specifics that make it so interesting. I loved the most their arts and music. Melbourne has a vibrant arts and music scene, live music venues, markets, designers, community activities, eccentric Cafes, cobbled laneways, quirky shops, intimate bars and restaurants, festivals, activities and events. In the end i could only say that when the most made me indulge to know more about this city then in reality how i would be react. Well, it's very difficult to chose one favorite place of this city to visit because, every corner made fallen love with Melbourne

Honestly, after reading this beautiful post there is not even a single spot that I would like to miss.
But picking the most desired one I would love to explore the Free Tourist Tram Service along with the Food N Wine Festival.
Since I am a traveler I would love to explore Melbourne in the Free Tourist Tram. I love to explore new places and find out the culture, people, traditions, etc. Since this tram covers majority of the tourist destinations it is definitely a must have if I want to experience Australian culture, city life, etc. Also since I am a foodie I would love to visit the Food N Wine festival for exploring various cuisines.

  4. Hi!
We know beauty never need words but without words it cannot be explained and when you get wordless after seeing it... your mouth still get open wide and WOW comes out. Shilpa! your explanation about Melbourne is wonderful and picturesque description. I am a person who always attracted to nature first of any place so I would love to see the Melbourne Nature & Wildlife. The 12 Apostles rock formations is world famous rocks which changes its color in sunrise and sun set. And then I will see the Phillip Island Nature Park where I want to see the animals which I hardly see in India. I never seen Penguins , Koala and other animals.
Driving on a smooth road with natural beauty around you, I always be a feeling of heaven on Earth. I would love to drive on Great Ocean Road which is also famous in world to give you a scenic experience and the pleasure of that driving is amazing.

    Bhawna ♥

  5. Great post! After reading your post & watching all the videos, I’d most like to visit the Dandenong Ranges for it’s scenic beauty, breathtaking view and cool breeze blowing through my hair. :P I’d give anything away for driving through the winding roads which are present throughout the ranges. I’d love to stay at one of the bed and breakfast cottages and go on frequent excursions in the forests with my camera which provides excellent views. And not to forget the famous ride in the Puffing Billy, a day reserved especially for that. To add to that, there are also several picnic spots for me and my friends to spend a fun-filled day and the ranges are a perfect spot for hiking and cycling.

  6. Wonderful post and interesting videos that make me feel that
Melbourne invites the eternal romantic in me to hold hands with my beloved and go see the Twelve Apostles .Go on long drives on the great ocean road. In the middle of nowhere in a vineyard spread a table and enjoy a meal and a glass of wine with my dear one. Enjoy the sunsets holding hands and do lots of shopping at the Queen Victoria Market and see all the graffiti being created at the hosier lane.
Great Post and interesting videos watching them I am sure to visit Sovereign Hill for spending some time in the era gone by. The lure of gold and panning for some nuggets is a temptation that is too much to resist. After I have found the gold I am bound to celebrate it with some wine so I will visit the vineyards and enjoy some great wine from the Yarra region .Visit the Pannys Phillip Island Chocolate Factory and have my fill with this yummy delight.

  8. I would like to visit the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) which is located in Yarra Park. Cricket has fancied me since childhood. I still remember those days when the elders in my neighbourhood used to start shouting and hunting for us the moment the cricket ball hit by me broke one of their window panes. Running away from them was even more exciting than playing cricket itself.

I used to follow every cricket match played by India religiously and used to analyse and discuss it with friends and siblings for days and months. Being such an enthusiastic fan of cricket, visiting one of the world’s largest cricket stadiums is one of my dreams.

The thought of being seated amongst 95,000 other fans of cricket and cheering the players itself sounds exciting to me. Such large cricket stadiums are one of the ways to explore how much the passion for cricket has penetrated among the people of the world. MCG is located in Yarra Park, which also has many other sporting fields. This would allow me to explore not just cricket, but also many other games.
